Computer Network Cabling

Gone are the days when you had four different cabling companies, one for the phones, one for the PC network, one for the Apple Mac's in the design department and another for the IBM AS400 accounts computer. Gone are the days when moving staff around was a nightmare.

Now you can do it all yourself, with a structured cabling system from Telecall.

We give our customers the flexibility and adaptability they need to prosper in the ever more competitive world of business.

Telecall provides a complete service, which includes combined voice and data installations using copper or fibre optic cabling. Our "turnkey" approach gives you a voice and data cabling network which is fully tested, certified and network ready.

Our own in-house test equipment is capable of full certification of copper or fibre optic cables for EIA/TIA Category 5/6 operation, with written test reports on every cable, delivered on paper or disk.

We can plan your office layout, produce CAD drawings, design cable containment and manage projects.

Inter-office data links, such as IPStream, Kilostream and Megastream can be multiplexed to provide voice inter-switchboard links as well as Wide Area Networking. Multiplexers can incorporate routers to minimise unnecessary inter-LAN traffic and maximise throughput.

How it works

  • A network of sockets is installed wherever you want people, servers, printers, or other network devices.
  • These sockets are wired back to a central Patch Panel. Each wall socket is cabled to a matching Patch Panel socket with a unique identifying number.
  • Computers, servers, workstations and network-ready printers are plugged straight into the wall sockets.
  • Telephones plug directly into the wall sockets using a small adapter if required.
  • Back at the patch panel, hubs are installed for all of the computer network devices and the phone system extensions are wired out to a set of sockets.
  • Connecting a phone is simply a matter of using a plug in patch cord to connect the wall socket to the right telephone extension.
  • Connecting a computer or other network device is simply a matter of using a plug in patch cord to connect it to the appropriate hub.

Advantages

  • A wide variety of computer networks can be supported, Microsoft NT, Novell Netware, IBM Token Ring as well as mainframe or mini computers such as the popular IBM AS400.
  • The wiring is independent of the telephone and computer systems and can outlast both.
