On 6 August 2002 the UK Aeronautical Information Service introduced ADIMS (AIS Dynamic Information Management System). On 19 August the web interface, known as AES (Aeronautical e-Systems) went live. There was considerable criticism of AES by the GA community when it was first introduced and AIS invited Russell Howton and Mike Cross to visit their offices at Heathrow to discuss the issues. Russell visited on 20 September and Mike visited on 3 October. We both re-visited on Tuesday 15 October. This website is an initiative which allows us to report back our progress to you in a way that is more flexible and accessible than posting to the various forums on the Web. We will continue to monitor the forums and respond to points raised there if we feel that we can make a worthwhile contribution. You can see our suggestions for improvement by clicking here for HTML format or here for Microsoft Word format. You can see an account of a meeting held at AIS on 15 November 2002 to consider these suggestions by clicking here for HTML format or here for Microsoft Word format. You can see an account of a further meeting held at NATS HQ on 6 February 2003 to review progress by clicking here for HTML format or here for Microsoft Word format. The intended audience for this site is users or potential users of the UK AIS website at http://www.ais.org.uk. A number of hyperlinks point to pages on the UK AIS site and you will need your username and password for that site to follow them. It is assumed throughout that readers are familiar with aeronautical terminology (click here for a list of common acronyms and abbreviations in Adobe pdf format) Unless otherwise stated the opinions expressed on this website are our own and should therefore not be regarded as authoritative.
