Getting a BriefingYou obtain a briefing using AES, the Web interface of ANAIS. You fill in and submit a web form. This data string contains the type of query and the parameters required to run it. Some parameters will be what you have entered, some will be fixed information derived from code on the page from which you submitted the data. ANAIS runs the query against the database. Errors in the data (e.g. an invalid ICAO designator) will return an error message, otherwise the results of the query will be returned to your browser, formatted and displayed on a web page. Click here for known problems with the site as a whole. There are links below for problems which are specific to particular pages. ANAIS can handle many different types of query. Available BriefingsAerodrome BriefingThis briefing will only provide you with NOTAM affecting facilities or aids at the airfields you select. It will not provide you with any information outside of the ATZ. This briefing is particularly useful to pilots practicing Instrument Procedures at an aerodrome. Area BriefingIs designed to give Aerodrome and En-Route NOTAM for up to 30 Flight
information Regions. You can set the validity period and content required
according to ICAO defined parameters. Route BriefingThe briefing will contain information for the whole FIR through which the
route passes BUT NOT all the Licensed Airfields as in the Area Briefing. Narrow Route BriefingThis is the brief most commonly used by pilots flying from A to B. It is designed to give you NOTAM for your departure and arrival aerodromes plus up to 20 alternates and en-route data for 4000 feet either side of a user-selectable flight level. Route must be defined using the same syntax as an ICAO Flight Plan. You can set the validity period and content required according to ICAO defined parameters. The first an last legs will contain NOTAM from surface to 4000ft above your chosen upper FL. The en-route legs will contain NOTAM 4000ft either side of your chosen FL. VFR FIR BriefTwo of these are available, one for each of the UK FIR's. They are a straight one-click brief with no need to fill in any parameters. This is a very useful brief for the notice board at an airfield. Data is sorted geographically, making it easier to see which NOTAM will affect your flight. VFR Aerodrome Brief Again, two of these are available, one for each of the UK FIR's. They list all licensed aerodromes within the FIR in alphabetic order of aerodrome name. They are a straight one-click brief with no need to fill in any parameters. This is a very useful brief for the notice board at an airfield.
